CORE LEADERSHIP GOES PINK

CORE LEADERSHIP GOES PINK

“Everything rises or falls on leadership.” If this is true, the future of the women in our lives who may have breast cancer in the coming years rises or falls on our leadership during breast cancer awareness month and beyond.

SLIP SLIDING AWAY

SLIP SLIDING AWAY

Many live a reactive life that drifts aimlessly and doesn’t accomplish much. For leaders, this is a recipe for disaster. But perhaps we don't have to just slip through life...

QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN THINGS GO WRONG

QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN THINGS GO WRONG

When things don't go as planned, the questions we ask could determine the outcome of our situation. While some questions are conducive in a crisis, some only make matters worse. What are good questions to ask when things go wrong?

WHY YOU SHOULD BE A GOALSETTER

WHY YOU SHOULD BE A GOALSETTER

From flying airplanes to shooting missiles to tracking endangered whales, a GPS has a way of guiding us to wherever we are aimed. As leaders, men and women of influence, and children of God who want to carry God’s vision and lead His people, the time to set our 2017 GPS and God-inspired goals for the coming year is NOW!

LEAD WITH LISTENING

LEAD WITH LISTENING

As leaders, we are often in situations where we get to listen to someone's story. The problem far too often is we just have too much to say. To be true servant leaders, we must be quick to listen and slow to speak; but how does one become a better listener?

WHEN TRAINING LEADERS IS NOT THE PRIORITY

WHEN TRAINING LEADERS IS NOT THE PRIORITY

There is a time to hold a conference and a time to respond to a crisis. When we truly have a Passion for the Harvest, we find that training leaders is not limited to a classroom.

OUT OF THE MUD

OUT OF THE MUD

In a fallen world filled with fallen people, obstacles are expected. A wise person once said that at any given moment in life, you are either walking towards, going through, or coming out of an obstacle. So, how do we respond when such muddy roads lie ahead?

THE VISION FORMULA

THE VISION FORMULA

“Leadership is one of the most observed and least understood phenomena on earth.” These words by leadership guru, George McGregor Burns, still echo in my mind more than a decade after I first read them. THE WORST WORD IN LEADERSHIP

THE WORST WORD IN LEADERSHIP

Suppose you board an airplane for a nine-hour transatlantic flight with three hundred other souls. After the usual announcements about stowing your luggage and fastening your seat belts, the captain comes on the speaker, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain. Today we will try to fly this plane all the way to Paris.” I don’t know about you, but if I heard such an uncertain announcement from the highest ranking leader on that airplane, I'm pretty sure I would get off and catch the next flight.

NO TALENT REQUIRED

NO TALENT REQUIRED

It's easy to feel limited in your leadership because of insufficient training or the right resources. Even many entry-level jobs these days require a degree or years of experience. At times, even I feel “ in over my head,” wishing I had a degree in management or something similar. Then again, maybe leadership isn't only for the naturally talented and the highly educated.

THE POWER OF CONTENTMENT

THE POWER OF CONTENTMENT

Every generation asks the "How did people live without..." questions. Thousands of years ago, many wondered how humanity lived without fire. SMALL ACTS, GREAT LEGACY

Seventeen — the age when life-changing decisions are made. This was especially true for Brian, a young Christian man who was trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life. It all became clear when Brian walked into a Christian coffee house and was deeply touched by the large mural on one of the walls. In this mural, repeated many times, were the words of Ecclesiastes 12:1...

THE POWER OF CLARITY

THE POWER OF CLARITY

Exploration expeditions often hire the services of a guide or scout to go ahead and clear the way. Leaders, in a way, are like expedition scouts. Besides casting vision, leaders are responsible for making clear the path ahead for the rest of the team.

No Stop, Only Go

No Stop, Only Go

Part of my job includes a lot of international travel. This means long hours on airplanes, including take-off, landings, turbulence, smooth sailing, and sometimes, bad food. Just a couple days ago, I returned to the US from Brazil. As the plane climbed up through heavy thunderstorms and some of the worst turbulence I have ever experienced, I started thinking how visionary leadership is like flying an airplane.

Four Ways to Conserve Leadership Fuel

Four Ways to Conserve Leadership Fuel

Our society is tremendously dependent on oil and the fuel it generates. I have traveled the world, and in almost every place I have been, people move around in vehicles which run on gas, diesel, or ethanol. Our dependence on fuel is so great that one of the common apocalyptic themes in movies and television shows is a future where fuel is scarce or extinct — It causes chaos! The world as we know it depends on fuel. We cannot run on empty.
