This week, we wrap up our series on the Core Value of Intimacy with God... In John 10:30, Jesus describes His intimate relationship with God the Father when He says, “I and the Father are one.” Further, we discover in John 17:20–21 that Jesus prays for each of His followers to experience that same level of intimacy.
Jesus prays,
Father, just as You are in Me,
and I am in You.
May they also be in Us.
It is amazing to know that Jesus was praying for our relationship with God to be as deep as His relationship with His Father. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God spoke about this intimacy when He said,
This is what the Lord says, let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me. - Jeremiah 9:23-24
