When You Find Yourself Stuck

Over the past few weeks, reflecting on Psalm 23, you have learned about God's character as your Good Shepherd. Knowing God through His Word is powerful, but you also have the privilege of experiencing Him daily in your life.

Over the past few weeks, reflecting on Psalm 23, you have learned about God's character as your Good Shepherd. Knowing God through His Word is powerful, but you also have the privilege of experiencing Him daily in your life.

For me personally, I often experienced our Good Shepherd while growing up on a goat farm. My job, as the shepherd or goat herder, is to care for my animals and keep them safe. Part of protecting the goats is knowing their enemy. If a goat sticks its head through the fence to eat the shrubs on the other side, there is a good chance a stray dog will be waiting close by to devour the vulnerable goat. Sounds a lot like 1 Peter 5:8, right?

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

Recently, as I found myself frustrated at the stuck goats, the Lord reminded me of how often I also get myself into a position for the enemy to devour me.

Praise God you have a Good Shepherd who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in His steadfast love and faithfulness. He shows us how to stay alert and is patient and forgiving when we find ourselves stuck (Exodus 34:6).

Dare to Ask God to help you be aware of the enemy's schemes against you as you rely on the protection of your Good Shepherd.

God Bless,
