Whenever you follow someone, it means you will always find yourself somewhere. As a believer, you should know where you are going. When the Lord is your Shepherd, you follow the One who knows the very best destination for you, and He will take you there. He not only knows the way... He is the Way.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. - Psalm 23:6
You are uniquely wired to wonder about eternity and wrestle with the truth that there is more to life than your time on Earth. There are moments, people, and activities which can bring temporary happiness and joy, but no one is wholly and eternally satisfied by the things of this Earth. And the truth is, God did this by design.
He is leading you to His eternal dwelling, a place He has prepared especially for you. When the Lord is your Shepherd, your life’s purpose and journey are fulfilled as it ends in the place God created for you. It is the place God desires for His children.
Heaven is a place where sickness, death, sorrow, and pain will no longer exist. It is a place absent of the chaos caused by a fallen world and the sins of your broken humanity. A place we will experience the fullest satisfaction, the greatest joy, and the perfection of love.
What could be better than dwelling with the Good Shepherd forever? Remember, if the Lord is your Shepherd, you shall not want.
