God calls us to live a life of integrity, even when doing so requires a step of bold obedience.
One great example of a person who did not compromise integrity is Daniel.
Daniel was a young, intelligent Israelite who was selected for three years of intensive training to prepare him for service in King Nebuchadnezzar’s court. The king even appointed him a portion of food from his own kitchen.
Daniel had a decision to make: eat the king’s food and compromise his integrity or live on vegetables and water for sustenance as he trained for service.
What did Daniel decide?
“Test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water… At the end of the ten days, see how we look compared to the other young men who are eating the king’s food.”
Daniel 1:12-13
Instead of compromising his integrity, Daniel trusted the Lord to sustain him. If God did not provide, Daniel would have to begin eating the king’s food, forcing him to forfeit his integrity before the Lord.
“At the end of the ten days Daniel looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king.”
Daniel 1:15
God provided for Daniel so that he would not have to compromise his integrity.
He grew stronger and healthier than all the men who did eat the king’s food. God gave him knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom. After training, he was selected by the king to serve in his court. God honored Daniel’s faithfulness and obedience.
Dare to Ask God to give you the confidence of Daniel that you may never compromise integrity and instead, trust in God who will give you the ability to live with bold obedience.
