Some things sound really strange when we read the Bible. One of those statements is found in the book of James. We are told we should consider the trials that we face as joy. Let that sink in for a moment. James tells us the trials, difficulties, and persecution we may face as Christians, should be received with an attitude of joy. These circumstances can be used by God to benefit us in significant ways.
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
James 1: 2-4
The Persecuted Church is often among those who live in this reality. They recognize that we have a sovereign God who can be trusted in every situation. This is possible because there is a certainty that God will never waste our trials, but will in fact, redeem them.
