When was the last time you were excited about serving someone? The idea of putting someone else’s needs first, is usually not the thing that wakes us up in the morning.
There are five words that may change that: Serve the Lord with gladness. These five simple words when lived out, are extremely powerful and transformative. They can revolutionize our perspective, our circumstances, and even our relationship with God. These words are possible for us to live out, when we go “all in” with our gratitude towards God and others.
“Serve the Lord with gladness”
- Psalm 100:2a
One of the truly unique things about Jesus was that He came to this world, “not to be served, but to serve.” This even extended to the point of His suffering and death. He even told His followers, "no one took His life, but He freely laid it down for us." We are called to show this same act of love and service towards the others in our live.
To be willing to serve is commendable. To be willing to serve with gladness, is transformational. When we serve with gladness, our perspective changes. Our thoughts about those who we serve changes. Our fellowship with others changes. Best of all, our time with the God changes.
Truly, thankfulness is the breeding ground for joyful serving, and serving the Lord with gladness, can transform our lives.
