Have you ever faced a challenge so great it felt like you were walking through fire?
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship the 90-foot gold statue of King Nebuchadnezzar even if it meant they would be thrown into a fiery furnace. They confidently told the King that God would save them, but even if He did not, they would never worship the statue. They were committed to integrity at all costs.
Enraged, King Nebuchadnezzar turned the furnace up SEVEN TIMES hotter than usual, then ordered the three Jews be thrown into the fire. The furnace was so hot the flames killed the guards who were ordered to throw the men into the fire, and they were not even in the furnace!
Just as it seemed all hope was lost for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement as there were not three men walking, unscorched through the fire, but four!
He immediately called them out of the fire, and began worshipping the God that saved the three men, the God that walked with them through the fire! King Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed,
“Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.”
Daniel 3:28
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to compromise their integrity, and the Lord saved them because of their faithfulness.
When you face a challenge to your integrity, never give in. Stand strong in the face of adversity. Be bold and courageous. God will walk through the fire with you!
