For 163 years, the walls of Jerusalem had been broken down.
Let that fact soak in.
For more than sixteen decades, the city of Jerusalem was marked by brokenness, oppression, and persecution. Several other attempted to rebuild the walls and failed. Countless prayers had been prayed.
Then God spoke to Nehemiah, the cupbearer to the king. He accepted the vision that God puts in his heart, and acted in bold obedience to achieve that vision.
After facing many obstacles, Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem. Fifty-two days later, the wall of Jerusalem had been rebuilt. Let that soak in too.
It took 52 DAYS for one person following God’s vision to change history.
So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized this work had been done with the help of our God. -Nehemiah 6:15-16
