Being sure of God's purpose for your life is one of the greatest things a Christ-follower can know. Because of an act of bold obedience, Diego has been living out his purpose as an influential leader in Brazil over the last decade.
This is Diego's story.
When I was 13 years old growing up in Brazil, God began prompting me to give my life to Him, and I made the decision to invite Jesus into my heart. In college, I was steadfast in my faith, often sharing Christ with my peers.
Then, in 2006, the pastor of my church invited me to attend an ILI training event for equipping young leaders. I wanted to go more than anything, but having just graduated from college, I didn't have the money to attend.
I knew I was missing a life-transforming opportunity, but I humbly declined, “I am thankful for the invitation, but I cannot afford the course at this moment.” After a long discussion with my pastor, he smiled and finally said,
“Diego, just go.” So, in bold obedience, I attended my first History Makers training event.
We spent each day in fellowship with one another, talking about Jesus, and being equipped with the Eight Core Values of the most effective Christian leaders.
When I left the event, I was sure of God’s purpose for my life: to speak the Gospel and equip leaders to discover God’s vision for their own lives.
Less than a year later, I helped organize another training event in Brazil. Then, I was given the opportunity to lead devotionals, and now, our team equips hundreds of leaders through multiple training events each year.
With the COVID-19 global pandemic, our church has found ways to see and meet the needs of those hurting around us. My wife and I even feel God leading us to a new opportunity that will help meet some of these needs. We trust where He calls us, and we will follow as He leads.
