What is your relationship status? Are you single? Married? Divorced? Are you content with where God has you, or are you longing for change? Perhaps, there have been past wounds caused by a relationship? Regardless of your current status, God has a good plan for this season of your life.
Single
Singleness is a gift from God. It is modeled by Jesus Christ. Paul exhorts single men and women to use singleness for personal growth and as a platform to “live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 7:32-35). As a single person, you have a gift from God that allows you to serve the world around you in a special way.
Married
Marriage is also a gift from God between a man and a woman. It is a model of the relationship between Christ and the Church. Jesus said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh” (Matthew 19:5-6). Just as Christ sacrificed Himself to show His love for the church, you and your spouse are called to reflect that same kind of love for one another.
Divorced
God is in the business of restoring brokenness and pain. Jesus said so Himself when He quoted Isaiah 61 proclaims God, “has sent me (Jesus) to bind up the brokenhearted,” “comfort all who mourn,” and to give “the oil of joy instead of mourning.” If you are divorced or have been hurt by a relationship, know that God loves you, and God is near to you. Jesus has promised to redeem your situation and bring you hope and joy.
Whether you are single, married, or divorced, you have an opportunity to reflect God to a world who desperately needs to see faithfulness and fidelity lived out. God wants to use you and your relationships to transform the world.
