New challenges require new methods.
Consider Martin Durham and Gareth Hides from London . . .
Martin and Gareth lead K180, a London-based organization dedicated to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ by drawing crowds on the streets across Europe and creatively sharing the Gospel message.
Then, COVID-19 hit . . . no open air work, no one on the streets, and certainly no crowds!
Some organizations immediately cancelled all engagements and sat back to wait out the pandemic. Everything in Martin and Gareth screamed to do exactly the opposite. The context had changed, but not the Great Commission. They asked God for a fresh vision and new strategies.
God spoke in their hearts. “You can't go to the streets so move everything online.”
So the team adapted. Soon, new K180 videos were being viewed and shared by thousands of users on social media. These videos featured team members sharing a testimony or speaking the Gospel message. With each video, they asked the same question they normally asked bystanders on the street, “That’s my friend. What do you think about what he or she is saying?” Through online engagement, people were being reached with the Gospel!
Martin also shares, “Our teams across Europe are now meeting online for training and encouragement. Our bonds are strengthened, and we are spurred toward attempting even greater things for the Lord.”
In John 21:15-19, Jesus presents Peter with a question and a challenge that applies to every follower of Christ today. Jesus says,
“Do you love me? … Then feed my sheep.”
The pandemic caused Martin and Gareth to find new ways to share God’s love. Have you also discovered new opportunities because of the pandemic?
Dare to Ask God to show you how to feed His sheep during these days,
God’s passion for His people can not be extinguished. Do you embody this same passion?
