The global pandemic is impacting each of our lives in different ways.  In the midst of quarantines and social distancing, we are uncovering some incredibly inspiring stories.

Meet Ajay from Hyderabad, India . . .

"A patient came to the hospital today exhibiting all the signs of someone infected with COVID-19. As I finished listening to his lungs with my stethoscope, I reflected on God’s journey that took me from a child born in poverty to a medical professional serving my nation during a global pandemic.

As a young boy, my family suffered greatly. We often went without food as we tried to survive on my mother’s day laborer salary. My clothes were tattered and attending school was impossible.

At eight years old, I was accepted into Hope for Today's Alpha Home led by Peter and Esther. I will never forget my first twenty-four hours at the Alpha Home. They gave me new clothes, nutritious food, and signed me up to attend school where I was determined to learn English. It did not take long for me to begin dreaming of a career in medicine.

Today, I work as a nurse and a frontline medical worker during the current COVID-19 crisis. My nation, India, is on a quarantine lockdown. Each day, we are treating new patients and testing for the coronavirus.

Because of the love of God I received at the Alpha Home, I have been able to rise from the slums of India to a successful nursing career. My adopted father, Peter, always told me to dream big and work hard. My adopted mother, Esther, showered me with unconditional love and prayer.

This is a time for me to serve and not be afraid. It is an honor to work in medicine at this moment of history."

Ajay’s story reminds us of Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Dare to Ask God for inspiration, hope, and compassion as He guides your future.
