A popular phrase these days is “all in,” referring to someone that is fully invested in something. They are fully committed and without reservation. They are prepared to give all their resources and energy toward a particular cause. They hold nothing back, and offer everything they are and have.
The 100th chapter of the book of Psalms is fondly known as “The Thanksgiving" Psalm. As I reflect on this scripture, I think we could re-label it as the “Thank You God, I am All In" Psalm. The essence of this Psalm is that of joyful, exuberant, and unhindered thanksgiving to God. Consider these statements from Psalm 100:
“Shout joyfully to the Lord” (v.1)
“Come before Him with joyful singing” (v.2b)
“Enter His Gates with thanksgiving” (v.4)
“And His courts with praise” (v.4)
“Give thanks to Him” (v.4)
“Bless His Name” (v.4)
Psalm 100 encourages us to be abandoned and completely given over in our praise and thanksgiving to God. The words show us what to do and how to do it. We are to sing, praise, give thanks, and bless the Lord. We are to do those things with unreserved joy! It’s time for us to be “all in” with our thanksgiving and praise. God deserves it!
