"The Paraguay mission has been given a mobile medical clinic. Will you go to Asbury Seminary to be trained for missions and then join us on the field in Paraguay?"
These were my (Norival’s) parent's words to us on a Friday night in 1989. What Norival Sr. and Ruth didn’t know, was that five days earlier we sensed the Holy Spirit saying it was time to leave Norival’s medical career behind and follow God to the mission field.
Seven years earlier, Norival Sr. and Ruth followed God’s call to close a law practice in Brazil and become missionaries to Paraguay. They modeled the power of a couple dedicated to serving God. We witnessed the fruit of their dedication as people were reached with the Gospel. After our training, we served together in Paraguay for ten years.
They taught us the importance of cultural relevance and fanned
the flame of passion for the
harvest in our hearts.
Tens of thousands were served, hundreds equipped for leadership, and dozens of churches planted. Norival Sr. and Ruth paved the way for us to serve as global missionaries. Today, we lead ILI’s training team, which is now focused on mobilizing teams of leaders in at least 100 nations by 2020.
When Norival's parents asked him and wife, Cristina, to join them in Paraguay, they were unaware of the seed that had been planted for God's plan just five days earlier! Check out how his parents helped pave the way for their life in missions.
