Bold prayers and patience get big results.
Consider Florence Fokoua from Cameroon...
She left her home country of Cameroon on March 15 to equip leaders through an ILI Alumni Summit. At passport control in Mali, she was denied entrance, but told the agent, βI am here to bless your country, and I am sent from God.β He told her to wait so she started praying.
A few minutes later, he said βSomething changed. You are approved to enter."
As the Alumni Summit began, news was spreading that nations were closing their border because of the growing COVID-19 global pandemic. Mali's border would only remain open for 48 more hours. Travel restrictions meant Florence might get caught in transit before arriving back to Cameroon. So she prayed, and God spoke in her heart, "Go to Senegal."
She made it to Senegal just as every nation in North Africa closed their borders. A friend in the ILI global network opened his home to Florence so she could shelter-in-place with his family. At that point, the whole world hoped the pandemic would pass quickly.
Week after week, Florence prayed that in Godβs timing she would get back to her husband and children in Cameroon. While she prayed, she also worked and created new ways to train leaders using online video conferencing apps and other digital strategies. God used the quarantine for great good as she began influencing lives across the French-speaking world.
Eight weeks after she arrived in Senegal, she heard about a government sponsored flight to get 400 Cameroonians back to their home country, but discovered she was not on the approved list. So again, she prayed. And then she went to the embassy to appeal her situation.
At the embassy, the official told her, βWe know you are a leader from our nation, but you are not on the list.β She prayed again and waited patiently. Three hours later, the official came over and handed her documents and said, βYou are now on the flight. His Excellency, the Cameroon Ambassador in Senegal, will escort you to get to the plane. You can go home.β
Friend, how has COVID-19 impacted you? What are you praying?
John 15:7 says, βIf you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.β
Dare to Ask God to pray bold prayers like Florence,
Godβs passion for His people can not be extinguished. Do you embody this same passion?
